Life of Kilfords

I'm just writing a quick line so that no one can say we didn't write anything in March... I can't believe we're on the last day of the month!! What?

We've been busy!! We had a couple of events in Spain, then we went with our team to a refreshing conference in England, then we spent a week with Mum, and now we are in Jersey, working away and enjoying our amazing friends and home church! We will be back home on Monday and Darren will be right off with the team and students for a busy week of events in schools and churches in the South of Spain. Luke and I will get back into the physio and appointments routine and hopefully lots of walks in the sunny spring weather...

Hope you are all well and sorry to be so bad with posts... Will tell you more stuff soon...

hugs

Maria and family

Hello there!

First of all THANKS so much for staying in touch through Skype, email, facebook and even old-school letters!! Writing a blog could feel like a one way conversation but somehow it doesn't with friends like you!

How's Luke?

  • Luke is 15 months old, which makes him a year old in his "corrected age" (counting from when he should have been born).
  • He weights 7,250 grams (15.9 lb) and is 72 cm long.
  • Just before his birthday he got his two bottom teeth. During Christmas he got four top ones. And today we spotted a third one in the bottom coming through.
  • He's a good eater; he's starting to show more interest in food from our plates and is slowly getting the hang of finger foods (very slowly).

Well, we are getting close to the end of January... and I thought it was about time to sit and write a little note in our blog.

Nanna and Luke, Christmas Day 09As you know, we spent Christmas in England with Darren's family and had a really good time. We stayed for an extra week in January to look after Darren's mum (or keep her company) as her husband had to go to India with his work. Elaine is such a fighter! She has endured 11 months of chemo and has just had another set of radiotherapy. There's always something causing her pain or discomfort but you don't hear her moan about it and seems to be able to look at the bright side of things... So we enjoyed spending time with her, her sense of humour, and seeing her happiness as she played and cuddled Luke..

Now we are soooo busy with life!! Luke keeps me busy with normal baby things plus a million therapy sessions and appointments. When he's having a nap (like right now) I sit with my laptop and work on La Industria and ContraCorriente stuff... Things I could be doing now instead of blogging are: finish script for school production, prepare La Industria's news and prayer bulletin, prepare our monthly mass email, write a report for a grant which we received from the government last year, tons of things to do with marketing our annual youth conference, also our music and arts contest, erm... ok, I'm getting stressed so I'll stop... and I won't start thinking about housework... Darren is equally busy, plus he also has his little pig to look after...

So, I'm going to stop talking to you our dear friends now and get a move on with the other stuff!

Love you lots and lots and I hope (is it a new year's resolution?) to blog a bit more often...

Big hugs and God bless you!

Mariberta / Maria / Roberta / Berta (...and that's why my son has one easy name which can't have variables depending on which country or company you are in!!)

Hey everyone,

hapy_christmas_kilfordsJust wanted to wish everyone and very blessed and merry Christmas. I'm writting this from my Mum's house after finially getting here from Santander. We have just had a lovely family dinner with my Mum, Les, Amy, Lisa and Jada.

We thank everyone who continue to pray and support us.

Much love over this festive time.
Darren, Maria and Luke

Today for me (and us) is strange day.

As I look back to the events of one year ago I’m filled with sadness at losing Jack, but also I'm reminded of the situation's defining peace, hope and love we felt. I just wanted to share a few things as concise as possible.

A couple of months ago, Mark Jobe was in Spain and joined us at La Industria for our morning devotions. Mark spoke to us from Genesis 32:22-30, and shared that sometimes (if not all the time) we need to fight for God’s goodness and not to give up. This served as a great reminder to me of the situation that we have been going through over the last year.
