Sharing the thoughts and news of the life of the Kilfords

Our front yardWell summer is here in Santander. We have had already quite a few BBQs and good times in our garden and our totally awesome massive table. I thought that it would be good just to put a post up to recap over the last month or so and give some plans for our summer.

Update on Dan

First we would just let to thank everyone that has been praying for Dan. He is at home now and enjoying being out of the hospital. We visited them just after Dan came out of hospital and he looked really well. Rebecca and Dani (mum and dad) have to monitor Dan's sugar levels every two hours day and night. This as you can imagine makes them very tired. Hopefully as Dan's levels stablise over time the every two hour monitoring can become something less intrusive. Please pray into this. We love them and enjoy seeing them a lot.

Update on my Mum

Things seem to be going better for my mum. The doctors and specialist have changed the type of Chemo that she is on. She seems to be less sick and tired on it and her hair hasn't fallen out. This is great news, praise God. She has been able to venture outside the house socially for the first time in months and this seems to be a real boost for her. We hope and pray that the chemo is doing its job in fighting back the cancer. WE are hopeing to see her again soon, but have no confirmed plans as yet. Please continue to hold my mum and family up in your prayers.

Little Luke

Luke's first Orange and Banana cocktailWow what can I say about this little boy. He is so cute and totally gorgeous. One of my favourite things to do is to make him smile and giggle. He is getting even more character and we love seeing him discover new things about the world and himself. The specialists are all really pleased with his health and development. He continues to have about 3 or 4 appointments with different therapists each week to help his development, movement, posture, and other skills.

When we stop and think what God has done in his life we are blown away. Loving Luke as a father is amazing, I feel such a pride and joy in him. I love watching him, helping him, protecting him, singing over him, having my peace rest on him. I can only imagine that this is only a dim reflection of what God feels for us. I praise God that he has given me (and all humanity) the ability to love, and through that I acknowledge him and give him the glory.

La Industria

Well our 9 month students left us last month. We know that God did some mighty works in their lives during the program, and we hope and pray for each one of them that God would continue the work he has started in them, seeing them being a blessing back in their local churches and communities.

la_industria_10_days_09At the start of this month we had our 10 Day camp. We had the maximum number of people signed up, 109 including teachers. This was our biggest year yet. Right from the start there was a mood of, "I want to get closer and deeper with God". For me I noticed a real difference, better attuitude and more aproachable, in a few of the returning student which is always nice to see. It was a great camp and I'm looking forward to hearing about lives changed.

So we are on a break at the moment over the summer period in La Industria. We are chasing up people that have shown an interest in doing the 9 month program which starts in October, and hoping that we get enough students to make it happen.

John Hill the director of La Industria and ContraCorriente wrote a small piece with his reflection of the year. You can download or open the pdf file here: Looking Back by John Hill (55.71 Kb) .

Our Plans:

Jersey

We are in the process of planning a trip back to Jersey in September for at least a couple of weeks. It will be a good time to see our dear friends that we love and miss soo much. And for them to meet Luke for the first time. I'll also be doing some work for Freedom Church and seeing some of my design clients.

England

We are hoping also to visit mum as a family in England again very soon. Flight prices have gone through the roof at the moment so just waiting for the best time.

Relaxing and Chilling

Apart from that we will just be hanging around, having our Spanish family and friends over for BBQs and chilling out enjoying the summer. I hope to get a bit more surfing in also.

Prayer Points

  • For my mum and family. Pray that God would touch them all in a perfect way
  • Luke's development, specially his rightside hand movement and separating upperbody and lowerbody movement
  • Rebecca, Dani and little Dan as they continue to deal with Dan's diabetes
  • Our travel arrangements

Well a big Kilford hug and kiss to you all out there.
